BetNova launched in Ontario officially on 9 April, becoming the newest sportsbook and online casino in the province’s regulated iGaming market. This platform is operated by Goldrush Canada Ltd., a subsidiary of Goldrush Gaming Group. The parent company brings experience across casino, bingo and online gaming. Goldrush Canada secured approval from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario in August 2025.
Ontario opened its regulated online gambling market in 2022, becoming the first province in Canada to permit private operators. These companies are required to hold AGCO registration and iGO operating agreement, under the supervision of AGO and iGaming Ontario (iGO).
The system provides an alternative to offshore platforms, safeguarding players from problem gambling and fraud. It also mandates that operators integrate responsible gambling tools, such as self-exclusion, deposit limits and access to support services.
Ontario’s market generated over CAD4 billion in gross gaming revenue in 2025, with wagers reaching around CAD100 billion, a 26% boost from the prior year.
Product mix leans on casino depth and global sports appeal
BetNova enters the market with a dynamic portfolio of slots, table games, and live dealer titles by top suppliers including Bragg Gaming Group, Evolution, Hacksaw Gaming, Play’n GO, Pragmatic Play and Relax Gaming.
On the sportsbook side, the platform focuses heavily on soccer markets to capture Ontario’s diverse player base and global audiences. It also covers other North American sports like basketball, hockey and American football to a limited extent.
BetNova attracts the younger demographic through esports betting while its crash-style games target players seeking fast gameplay.
Competitive pressure intensifies as operator numbers rise
Ontario’s regulated market continues to draw interest from both local and international operators. Recent approvals include Absolutebet Corp, while DAZN is preparing to enter with its betting product. High Roller Technologies remains in the approval pipeline.
Some established brands are already active in the province, such as Bet99, Caesars Casino & Horseshoe Online Casino, Bally’s Canada Inc. and Apollo Entertainment Ltd. As of early 2026, the market consists of 48 operators running 82 platforms.
Operators must invest significantly to comply with AGCO and iGaming Ontario standards and balance local favourites like hockey and football with global products like soccer and esports.
Despite these controls, offshore operators still contribute 59% of Canada’s online gambling activity, according to a Blask report.
Market exits create openings in specific segments
As new brands enter, some operators are stepping away. Casumo has announced its exit from Ontario, with operations ending by 30 April and account closures scheduled for 14 May 2026. The company confirmed it will continue serving other regions in Canada.
Earlier in the year, Rivalry shut down its Ontario operations, reducing competition in the esports segment. This exit creates a potential entry point for BetNova and other platforms offering esports.
BetNova is set to revolutionise Ontario’s iGaming market with its versatile range of offerings. The platform appeals to a diverse audience through its casino games, sports betting markets, and eSports. Recent operator exits have left a vacuum that BetNova will be eager to fill.
