SiGMA World Returns To Rome With Vision 2030 Policy Focus

SiGMA World will return to Rome for a second consecutive year, with the 2026 edition set to be formally presented on 19 September at the Capitoline Hill.

The launch event will take place in the Sala del Carroccio and bring together representatives from institutions, businesses and other stakeholders. Speakers will include Mariano Angelucci of Rome City Council, Heathcliff Farrugia representing SiGMA World and Sergio D’Angelo representing SAPAR.

The event comes ahead of SiGMA World Rome, scheduled from 2 to 5 November 2026. Organisers expect more than 30,000 delegates from around the world to attend, including companies, investors, professionals and international speakers.

Last year’s Rome edition was estimated to have generated around €100 million in economic impact for the local area.

Vision 2030 will examine the future of regulated gambling in Italy

The 19 September programme will also feature “Forbes Italia & SiGMA Talks – Vision 2030”, an initiative focused on the future of Italy’s regulated gambling sector. Regulators, trade associations, businesses and other stakeholders will discuss how the market may evolve through 2030.

Topics include regulation, digital transformation, consumer protection and efforts to combat illegal gambling. The discussion will create direct dialogue between policymakers and companies at a time when technology, changing consumer behaviour and new business models are reshaping the sector.

Participants will also examine how innovation can develop alongside regulation without weakening consumer safeguards or the distinction between licensed and unauthorised operators.

Forbes Italia Top 50 will highlight figures shaping regulated gaming

The event provides a platform for the Forbes Italia Top 50 – Italy’s regulated gaming project. Developed with SiGMA, this initiative recognises individuals contributing to the development of the country’s regulated gaming sector.

Its inclusion within the programme places industry leadership alongside the wider policy conversation around regulation, innovation and market development.

The main discussion will consider what rules Italy may need between now and 2030 and how regulation can adapt as technology and consumer habits change.

Artificial intelligence and fintech remain central to November programme

SiGMA World’s November event will run across five stages and cover artificial intelligence, fintech, technology, iGaming and payment systems. Artificial intelligence will be a major theme, with sessions exploring applications in data analysis, automation, risk management, compliance and consumer engagement.

The programme also examines digital payments and wider technological innovation, bringing together businesses, investors and institutions to discuss commercial opportunities and regulatory challenges.

This year, the organisers are building a forum to discuss how Italy’s gambling market evolves with digital innovation over the coming four years.

SiGMA’s return to Rome reflects Italy’s growing importance as a regulated gambling market and technology hub. The Vision 2030 discussion could be instrumental if it creates dialogue between policymakers, operators and technology businesses around regulatory evolution.
