Century Entertainment Delays FY2026 Results For Fifth Time

Century Entertainment International Holdings has delayed its FY2026 annual results for a fifth time, with its board meeting expected by 18 September 2026. The company had planned to approve results for the year ended 31 March 2026 in June.

In a filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 31 August, Century Entertainment requested more time to complete its statements and disclosures. The delays have left the group’s financial position unclear while its shares remain suspended.

Century Entertainment has previously pointed to difficulties linked to its online gaming business. Management and internal resources were diverted towards its Phase IV project, reducing the staff and financial capacity available for audit preparation.

The company also faced difficulties recruiting finance and accounting personnel for the online gaming division.

Auditors expand review of online platform systems and controls

The staffing shortage affected preparation of schedules and supporting documents required by auditors. They later began a full review of the online gaming platform’s systems and controls, adding more time to the reporting process.

Century Entertainment said the additional time is to ensure its financial statements and disclosures are fully prepared to meet applicable requirements. Directors will consider and approve the outstanding results at the rescheduled September meeting.

Delay increases pressure under Hong Kong listing requirements

The company is likely to breach Rule 13.49(1) of the Hong Kong Listing Rules, which requires listed companies to publish preliminary annual results within three months of the financial year end.

Century Entertainment previously declined to issue unaudited management accounts, arguing that doing so could present an inaccurate picture of its financial position and create confusion for investors.

It has also warned that its annual report may not be distributed to shareholders within the required timeframe. Therefore, the reporting delay is an accounting and listing compliance issue.

Trading suspension will continue until wider conditions are satisfied

Century Entertainment’s shares have been suspended since 26 June 2025. The Hong Kong Stock Exchange has set several conditions to be met before trading can resume. These include publication of outstanding annual results, resolution of audit issues or modifications and completion of an independent review of internal controls.

The company must also show that weaknesses identified in its financial reporting and control framework have been addressed. Publishing the FY2026 results alone would not automatically restore trading.

Century Entertainment said its business operations continue as normal and further announcements will be issued when material developments occur. Attention stays on completing the accounts, finalising the online gaming audit and satisfying the exchange’s resumption requirements.

A fifth reporting delay points to problems with accounting and auditing, particularly with the online gaming platform under extra scrutiny. Even once the accounts are published, Century Entertainment has significant work ahead before investors can expect any realistic path toward resuming trading.
