Casey Hurbis has announced his decision to step down as chief marketing officer of BetMGM after 18 months. He joined BetMGM in December 2024 to lead the company’s marketing operations.
In a statement shared on LinkedIn, Hurbis confirmed his departure but did not disclose the exact date he would officially leave. Before joining BetMGM, he served as chief marketing officer at Rocket Mortgage.
His career also included 24 years in automotive advertising, where he worked on campaigns involving FIAT and Alfa Romeo. BetMGM is yet to officially confirm the departure through its channels.
Hurbis highlights brand and AI initiatives
Hurbis pointed to several marketing projects completed during his tenure. “After a high-velocity chapter at BetMGM, I’m moving on. We didn’t just move the needle; we enjoyed BetMGM’s best year ever and we redefined the brand playbook,” he said.
“From a massive CRM transformation and integration of AI into our creative workflows to industry-leading social engagement and many other wins, the super talented marketing team leaned into my ‘Art, Science and Courage; mantra every single day.”
“If we’re talking crowning achievements, it’s the reimagination and modernisation of the BetMGM brand identity and development of an epic organising idea.”
BetMGM reports revenue growth in Q1 and iGaming remains strongest segment
Hurbis’ exit follows BetMGM’s recent Q1 financial results. The operator reported a 6% increase in revenue to $696 million, and paid its first parent fees to MGM Resorts International and Entain.
Online casino operations remained the company’s strongest growth driver, as BetMGM’s iGaming revenue rose 9% year-on-year to $481 million. Online sports betting revenue also increased by 4% to $203 million despite average monthly active users falling 9% to 975,000.
Profitability also improved during this period. Adjusted EBITDA increased from $22 million to $25 million, while contribution remained flat at $116 million. The operator also paid $3 million in parent fees to MGM Resorts and Entain following agreements tied to BetMGM’s long-term profitability.
Casey Hurbis has quit his role as chief marketing officer at BetMGM following improved revenue growth in Q1. During his time in charge, the company handled various marketing projects that positively impacted its positioning and modernised brand identity. There is no official date for his departure, but Hurbis has contributed significantly to BetMGM’s image and revenue.
