Broker Nabbed in Pattaya for Wat Rai Khing Abbot Fund Money

Authorities in Pattaya detained a broker linked to a network running online gambling. This person allegedly took funds from the abbot of Wat Rai Khing. The arrest happened as part of a larger investigation about financial crimes.

Wat Rai Khing’s abbot, named Phra Dhammawachiranuwat (Yaem Kittindharo), faces allegations of embezzlement. The claim says he took 300 million baht from temple funds and used it for internet gambling. The abbot went to the Anti-Corruption Division in Bangkok with his lawyer and a group of followers to deny wrongdoing.

Investigators checked records from the temple’s bank accounts. They found money moved from temple resources to the abbot’s personal account. After that transfer, another transaction sent money from his account to Aranyawan Wangthapan.

Pattaya police moved Aranyawan Wangthapan, the broker, to the Central Investigation Bureau for official questioning. She is 28 years old. She was also arrested last year for work with a gambling website called Lagalaxy911.

After her earlier arrest, authorities released her on bail. Now, the charges against her include supporting criminal activity, embezzlement, and misconduct. Police are collecting more information related to her involvement.

In the case of the abbot, who is 70 years old, the legal process to defrock him has started. Investigators continue to interview people and review financial records as part of their work.
