Sports Betting Dominates Brazilian Gambling Interest Despite Casino Growth

Brazil’s online betting market has evolved over the past decade from an unregulated environment into a top gambling jurisdiction. New data from Blask shows that sports betting accounts for 61.13% of all gambling-related interest among Brazilian users, with no other category coming close.

Lotteries rank second with 23.47% of total interest, followed by fantasy sports at 8.92%. Online casino products account for just 3.46%, while online poker represents 3.03%. Combined, these five categories account for virtually all measurable gambling interests in Brazil.

The figures reinforce a noticeable trend in the market’s development. While casinos provide visibility for a few popular games, sports betting drives the majority of consumer engagement.

Football Culture Drives Betting Activity In Brazil

Football is one of the strongest factors driving betting adoption in Brazil. For many consumers, the activity is connected to an existing passion for the sport.

This explains why operators direct significant investment towards sports as an acquisition strategy. Shirt sponsorships, stadium partnerships, competition naming rights, media collaborations and ambassador campaigns are common approaches used to attract players.

Lotteries capture 23% of the Brazilian market, ranking second. This signifies the relevance of traditional products in the country’s competitive gambling landscape.

Fantasy sports account for just under 9% of market attention. While still relevant, the segment appears to be growing at a slower pace than sports betting and other emerging products.

Despite the popularity of games like Aviator, Fortune King, and Fortune Tiger, casino games still only represent 3.5% of Brazilian interests. While the sports betting segment serves as an entry point, casino games are essential for monetisation and retention.

Few Casino Games Responsible For Visibility

Within the online casino segment, player attention is concentrated around a relatively small number of products. According to Blask, Fortune Rabbit currently leads visibility rankings among casino titles in Brazil.

This is followed by Fortune Tiger, Aviator, Fortune Dragon and Gates of Olympus Super Scatter. Three of the top five games belong to the Fortune series developed by PG Soft, highlighting the provider’s success in building recognisable brands within the Brazilian market.

Aviator remains one of the sector’s top performers. Developed by Spribe, the crash game competes against hundreds of slot titles and remains one of the most recognised gambling products in the country.

Pragmatic Play also maintains a strong presence through the Gates of Olympus franchise, which still generates massive visibility several years after its launch. Though legal platforms offer thousands of games, consumer attention is heavily concentrated around a few popular titles.

Distribution Strength Builds Recognition Across Operators

Blask’s analysis also examined game coverage across operators, measuring how widely individual titles are distributed throughout the market. Aviator currently leads this ranking, appearing on 137 monitored brands. Fortune Rabbit, Fortune Tiger, Gates of Olympus Super Scatter and Gates of Olympus 1000 complete the top five.

Broad distribution creates more opportunities for players to encounter a game across multiple platforms, helping build familiarity and brand recognition. However, distribution alone does not guarantee popularity.

Some games generate limited engagement with extensive market coverage, while others maintain high traffic volumes despite appearing on fewer platforms. Visibility and engagement metrics often accurately reflect user behaviour.

Sports betting is the foundation of the Brazilian gambling market due to a deep love for football across the nation. More than 60% of measured user interest is still directed toward sports wagering.

Though casino games lead their category, sport primarily drives engagement in the industry. According to Blask data, Brazil’s gambling story is being influenced more by football stadiums than casinos. This is simply because football is a cultural identity for most citizens.
