PrizePicks received gaming licences to operate in both Maine and Puerto Rico.
Key Points
- PrizePicks started operating with a new license in Maine.
- The company has become the first daily fantasy sports operator with a license in Puerto Rico.
- When ‘Arena’ launches in Puerto Rico, PrizePicks will cover 47 US jurisdictions.
No daily fantasy sports (DFS) operator is bigger than PrizePicks in the US, and its new licences in Maine and Puerto Rico take its reach further. Getting the gaming licence in Puerto Rico makes PrizePicks the only DFS operator with approval to work in this region. Arena, from PrizePicks, is a pick’em type game where users guess sports outcomes and get winnings if predictions are right.
This game can be played in Maine and will go live in Puerto Rico soon. Adam Packer, who is SVP of Legal and Compliance, said: “Arena has strong engagement across the US and we expect that to continue in new regions.” Good to know: After these licenses become active, PrizePicks will operate fantasy sports contests in 47 different US jurisdictions.
PrizePicks Sets Responsible Gaming Standards
PrizePicks is the first fantasy sports operator to get Internet Compliance Assessment Program certification for responsible gaming and consumer safety. PrizePicks has faced criticism from others in the sector because it is not a standard sportsbook, even when the game looks similar to prop betting. The company is in Atlanta and last year shared a plan to create 1,000 new jobs over the next seven years.
