The Dutch Gaming Authority, KSA, and Denmark’s Spillemyndigheden have launched a joint communications initiative linking seven gambling regulators across Europe. The KSA travelled to Denmark to formally introduce the European Regulators’ Network on Communication.
The first meeting brought together regulators and communication specialists from seven countries. Their focus was on shared communication challenges, especially how to improve public campaigns and make regulatory messages clearer and more effective.
Built on player protection talks
The initiative follows the Player Protection Conference hosted by the KSA in autumn 2025. This event brought together European regulators and experts to discuss issues such as player protection, illegal online gambling and addiction risks. The conference was designed to push international cooperation further, and this new network appears to be a practical next step.
The KSA has remained active on the player protection front. Earlier this month, it released updated guidance on online gambling advertising compliance. The rules cover font use, age targeting restrictions and the requirement for users to be able to opt out without opening an account.
KSA responds to changing gambling attitudes
In February, the Dutch regulator also issued new guidance on its role model ban, which stops influencers, streamers and similar public figures from promoting online gambling for operators.
Recent KSA research suggests gambling is becoming more socially accepted, which may be making gambling harm less visible. A study of 1,000 Dutch residents for the OpenOverGokken initiative found that nearly one in four respondents see gambling as normal in their social circles, reflecting broader regulatory challenges across European markets, as explored in the Global iGaming Regulation Guide.
Further updates on regulatory developments will be available in the regulation section.
