FIFA has renewed its integrity partnership with Sportradar, extending a collaboration that began in 2017. The updated agreement will run through to 2031 and widens the scope of services the company delivers.
The partnership now includes enhanced intelligence, investigative support and risk assessment tools in addition to existing betting monitoring services.
Under the new terms, Sportradar will keep monitoring betting activity across men’s and women’s FIFA international tournaments. The remit also covers confederation competitions, international club tournaments and senior domestic matches in the top two tiers within FIFA’s 211 member associations.
National cup competitions are included within the monitoring framework.
AI Driven Monitoring Through UFDS
At the centre of the agreement is Sportradar’s AI powered Universal Fraud Detection System. The UFDS has tracked football matches on FIFA’s behalf since the original partnership was formed.
The system analyses betting data from regulated markets worldwide to identify irregular patterns. Alerts are generated when activity suggests potential match manipulation.
The monitoring framework enables early detection of suspicious trends across multiple jurisdictions. Data points are cross referenced with operator reporting channels to strengthen case assessment.
Broader Integrity and Education Measures
Andreas Krannich, Sportradar’s EVP of Integrity Services, said the expanded agreement enhances the capacity of both organisations to address emerging threats. He referred to the challenge as operating within “An increasingly complex global picture.”
He added that the renewed deal “underlines both organisations’ commitment to fair and clean sport at all levels globally.”
Beyond technical monitoring, Sportradar will provide education and prevention programmes for sports bodies. These initiatives combine analytical tools with investigative expertise and structured reporting processes.
The objective is to guide federations and competition organisers on identifying and managing integrity risks.
Growing Focus on Match Fixing Risks
Concerns over match fixing have intensified in Europe and the United States over the past year. Authorities have noted that black markets are becoming more technologically advanced.
Hence, there’s greater pressure to modernise their response. Technology-based monitoring systems will be essential components of integrity protection.
The extended FIFA and Sportradar partnership reflects a long-term commitment to structured oversight across professional football.
