Evolution lost its request to make a New Jersey judge order sanctions on investigative firm Black Cube. The company claimed Black Cube did not follow discovery rules.
The live casino company said the private intelligence firm failed to comply with the court’s discovery order completely. Black Cube created reports claiming Evolution operates in banned areas.
Business argued Black Cube did not reveal all payments and invoices from the agreement with Evolution’s competitor, Playtech, properly. Playtech paid for these reports.
Evolution wanted the court to continue the deposition of Black Cube’s only director, Dr Avi Yanus. Black Cube stated that this deposition had already finished.
This update comes after Black Cube got court approval for its protective order. Order protected agents from being revealed in case. Many agents worked for Israel’s intelligence services before.
The case became one of the most discussed disputes in the online gambling sector. Both Evolution and Playtech suffered share price damage. These companies rank among the largest gaming suppliers in the market.
The Judge Refuses the Evolution Protective Order, Too
The court rejected Evolution’s separate request to protect itself from Black Cube’s discovery order.
Evolution claimed requests ask for documents with sensitive business information that stays private. Customer lists, contracts with nondisclosure rules, financial details, and business operation information fall under this category.
Public release of these documents would hurt Evolution, according to the company. Evolution’s competitors in the online gaming industry might see this information.
Black Cube responded that Evolution wants the court of public opinion to be open only for Evolution. Evolution can share complaints, but Black Cube and C-K cannot defend themselves.
Discovery battles represent the latest developments in the landmark case. These updates show minor procedural changes only.
Peel Hunt analysts said recently they feel positive about the case settlement outside court. The case might continue for years if a settlement does not happen.
