Entain Begins Search for New Marketing Chief Following Charlotte Emery’s Departure

Charlotte Emery has left her position as Chief Marketing Officer at Entain, as the gambling group begins searching for her successor.

Emery joined the company in June 2024 as its first chief marketing officer to lead campaigns across Entain’s UK brands. According to Campaign Live, she has now decided to leave the business.

During her tenure, Emery led a marketing team of over 230 people and managed a budget of £250 million across Ladbrokes, Coral, Gala, Foxy and Party. She also served on Entain’s UK Executive Committee, developing the strategy behind five consecutive quarters of business growth.

Her responsibilities included driving the rollout of artificial intelligence across the marketing function and leading the relaunch of the Ladbrokes and Gala brands.

Extensive consumer brand experience defined her career

Beyond her executive responsibilities, Emery represented Entain on Betting and Gaming Council committees focused on advertising and advertising technology.

Before joining Entain, she worked as an independent strategy adviser after more than four years in senior marketing roles at William Hill, including positions as global brand chief officer and global brand marketing director.

Earlier in her career, she held brand leadership roles at British American Tobacco, Twinings, Bacardi Global Brands and Homepride Foods, building extensive experience across consumer marketing before moving into the gambling industry.

Leadership change occurs as Entain pursues efficiency programme

Emery’s departure follows Entain’s recent confirmation that it will cut around 500 jobs as part of an efficiency programme led by Chief Financial Officer, Michael Snape. The company said these reductions will affect corporate functions including finance, governance and people teams, plus parts of its product and technology divisions.

Entain said the restructuring is intended to improve “operational efficiency and agility” and is not linked to recent increases in UK gambling taxes. There is no indication that Emery’s departure is connected to the workforce reductions.

Entain CMO, Charlotte Emery has stepped down from her position after two years of leading the marketing division. This comes after the company made over 500 jobs redundant to improve operational efficiency.
