Turnover in the Czech gambling market smashed through the one trillion crown barrier, hitting a staggering CZK 1.07 trillion a brand new record for the sector. That growth year in year out has driven the market to a whole new level and has also shown us some really interesting shifts in the types of games people are playing. Different bits of the market are doing very different things, with players moving their bets to the games that are most appealing to them. And these figures, to be honest, are a clear turning point in the development of the Czech gambling industry. Total gambling turnover grew by 8.8% according to data the Czech Financial Administration released, indicating widespread sector growth. Higher online activity levels combined with ongoing technical games demand to drive gross gambling revenue to CZK 68bn. Land-based venues lost players to online platforms as digital gambling created 59.5% of total GGR throughout the year.

Technical Games Excel While Odds Betting Weakens

CZK 843.3bn in turnover came from technical games like slot machines, representing an 8.8% increase from last year’s figures. GGR totalling CZK 37.4bn emerged from this category, reflecting sustained player participation and revenue streams for operators. Odds betting experienced a turnover decrease to CZK 138.5bn following two consecutive years of deposit increases, and GGR remained at CZK 13.73bn.

Tax Income and Partnership Agreements Increase

Live gaming options including roulette, dice, and poker achieved CZK 62.6bn in turnover, while lottery sales hit CZK 27bn through 7% annual increases. The government collected CZK 22.8bn in total gambling taxes, gaining an additional CZK 1.4bn versus the previous collection period. Brightstar Lottery entered a fresh instant ticket supply contract with Sazka, currently functioning within Allwyn before implementing a comprehensive rebrand during 2026.
