bet365 has launched its online sportsbook and casino in West Virginia, expanding the UK-based operator’s US presence to 18 states. The launch comes shortly before the start of football season, with the West Virginia Mountaineers scheduled to open their college campaign against Coastal Carolina on 5 September.
“West Virginia represents another important step in bet365’s continued expansion across North America,” said Trip Stoddard, head of development at bet365, in a press release. “As we grow our presence across the region, our focus remains on bringing customers the quality, depth and functionality that define the bet365 platform.”
Online casino adds an important second revenue stream
West Virginia is one of only eight US states currently permitting online casino gambling. This gives bet365 access to both sports betting and iGaming customers, allowing the operator to build a steadier revenue stream than in sportsbook-only states. Its launch promotions include offers across both products.
bet365 has been gaining traction across the US. Citizens reported that the operator generated 3.6% of US online sports betting revenue in July, double its share from a year earlier. Its iGaming share also increased to 2% from 0.4% in July 2025.
“Compared to the prior year, bet365 (new state launches) and Fanatics (business tailwinds) continue to take market share from the overall industry,” Citizens analysts wrote as competition intensifies across regulated markets.
West Virginia is a useful expansion market for bet365 because it offers both sportsbook and online casino revenue under one licence environment. With US market share rising, the bigger opportunity is building stronger customer value across dual-product states instead of over-reliance on sports betting.
