Virginia Lottery Rolls Out First US iLottery Virtual Sports via Aristocrat-Led Alliance

The new VSports product, delivered by Inspired Entertainment and integrated by Aristocrat Interactive, is the first virtual sports product of its type in a regulated US lottery jurisdiction.

Key points

  • The Virginia Lottery is the first US lottery to offer virtual sports draw games.
  • The lineup includes football, basketball, and horse racing, offered through an online platform.
  • Aristocrat Interactive’s Fusion system handled the integration.

Virginia Lottery began a new virtual sports service, becoming the first regulated iLottery in the US to bring such games to a digital site. VSports is the product name, and these games are a result of joint efforts among Aristocrat Interactive, NeoPollard Interactive (NPI), and Inspired Entertainment. Each VSports game mirrors a real sport such as football, basketball, or horse racing, and outcomes come from a certified random number generator.

Virginia Lottery Launches Innovative Draw Games through Strategic Tech Partnership

Drawing on a lottery format, the games run every two or three minutes and create a sports-like entertainment feel, even though results do not match real sports events. Inspired Entertainment created the games, while Aristocrat Interactive’s Fusion system helped make integration possible. NeoPollard Interactive is a company formed by Aristocrat and Pollard Banknote, which used its partnership with the Virginia Lottery to get the content to players.

Chris Shaban, leading Aristocrat Interactive iLottery, explained, “These unique draw games for Virginia Lottery show what strategic technology partnerships can deliver when looking for new gaming ideas.” Scott Kenyon at Virginia Lottery said, “Our work helps us put forward more games for players, and we believe people will find them interesting and enjoyable, at the same time helping us meet our goal for public K-12 education funding in Virginia.”
