Crackdown on Illegal Gambling in Kazakhstan

Kazakh authorities have intensified their efforts to combat illegal gambling activities, resulting in a significant number of website blocks and legal actions.

Since the beginning of 2024, authorities have identified evidence of illegal gambling activity on 11,417 websites. Of these, 6,649 sites were blocked, while 1,961 became inaccessible. After thorough investigation, 1,353 sites were found to be compliant with the law. However, 1,237 sites remain under surveillance and investigation.

In response to these findings, authorities have opened 103 administrative and criminal cases against individuals involved in organizing illegal gambling operations. This represents a substantial increase in enforcement efforts. As a result, 48 individuals have faced prosecution, including criminal charges. The remaining cases are currently pending further investigation.
