Open Banking Provider Truelayer Buys Nordic Counterpart Zimpler

Twenty million Zimpler users come under TrueLayer’s business scope.

Swedish Financial Authority Finansinspektionen must approve the deal first. TrueLayer’s European network becomes stronger if approval comes through. Both companies show friendship in this partnership deal. TrueLayer welcomes Zimpler’s Founders Johan Friis and Kristofer Ekman Sinclair. The firm’s shareholders join the TrueLayer team, too. Zimpler CEO Johan Strand made a statement about this. He said joining TrueLayer creates an opportunity to build Europe’s top Pay by Bank provider.

TrueLayer Strengthens European Presence with Nordic Expansion

TrueLayer shares this ambition for a European leadership position. Francesco Simoneschi co-founded TrueLayer and serves as CEO. He explained they expand the Nordic footprint while combining talent, technology and scale. Pay by Bank adoption accelerates across Europe through this merger. Pay by Bank becomes a disruptive force, changing global payment methods. TrueLayer started in 2016, four years after Zimpler began. The company became a top open banking supporter in Europe. William Hill partnered with TrueLayer in 2023 for payment streamlining. The gambling operator improved payment processes through this collaboration.

Open banking discussions increase around the iGaming and online betting sectors. Friction is reduced in the betting process through open banking technology. Financial harm markers get identified early using these systems. Zimpler collaborated with Swedish payments app Swish in March this year. TrueLayer gains A2A capabilities through Swish payment rail integration now.
