North Carolina Sets New Sports Betting Record in November

North Carolina set a new sports betting record in November, marking the second month in a row that the state reached a record high. Sportsbook operators took in a total of $814 million in bets during the month. This was slightly above the previous record of $811.4 million set in October and 23.8 percent higher than the amount recorded in November last year.

Data from the North Carolina State Lottery Commission showed that $791.7 million of the total handle came from paid bets, while $22.3 million came from promotional bets. The commission also reported that $3.5 million in bets were voided, and players were paid $717.6 million in winnings. This left the state with $92.9 million in gross wagering revenue for the month of November.

Revenue Reaches Second-Highest Total Since Launch

November’s revenue was the second-highest monthly total since legal online sports betting started in North Carolina in March 2024. The only month that brought in more money was April 2024, which recorded $105.3 million.

Revenue in November 2025 was 19 percent higher than the same month last year and also 19 percent higher than in October. The strong results show that interest in legal sports betting is continuing to grow across the state. The month’s activity also generated $16.7 million in tax revenue for North Carolina.

Five-Month Handle Passes Three Billion Dollars

Looking at the wider fiscal year, North Carolina recorded a total sports betting handle of $3.16 billion from July through November, showing continued growth in the market. This included $3.06 billion in paid wagers and $105 million from promotional bets.

During the five-month period, the state cancelled about $19 million in wagers and paid $2.83 billion in winnings back to players. After these payouts, North Carolina earned $314.6 million in gross wagering revenue. This activity also generated $56.6 million in taxes, all of which go to support important public programs funded by sports betting.

0Operators Active but Individual Results Not Released

North Carolina regulators do not release betting results for individual operators, so it is not known which sportsbook had the most activity. However, several major brands are active in the state, including FanDuel, DraftKings, Fanatics, ESPN Bet, Bet365 and BetMGM.

Each operator has been competing for market share since online sports betting began. Promotions, welcome bonuses and more betting options likely helped drive the high totals in November.

With two record-breaking months in a row and steady growth in revenue, North Carolina’s sports betting market seems to be on a strong upward trend. If this continues, the state could see even more record months as the new year begins.
