Macau: Satellite Casinos Emperor Palace and Waldo Stop Their Services

Macau sees two casinos shut down after the operator’s choices and regulatory permission. Satellite casinos Emperor Palace and Waldo will finish operations this week following operator decisions with Macau gaming authorities. SJM Resorts states Casino Emperor Palace inside the Grand Emperor Hotel shuts at 11:59 p.m. on 30 October. Gaming tables and slot machines move to different SJM properties after closure.

SJM ran nine satellite casinos on 30 June 2025, according to records. The interim report shows SJM Holdings earned 6.1% more total net revenue year-on-year during the first half of 2025. Authorities and service providers coordinate with the company for this closure process. Customer rights, including unredeemed chips and deposits, stay valid at other SJM casinos from 31 October.

SJM Confirms Job Security for Local Workers Amid Casino Closures

Local workers keep their jobs, SJM confirms in the announcement. Company employees get new assignments, while others receive priority for group vacancies available. Galaxy Entertainment Group says Waldo Casino, run by Galaxy Casino Company Limited, closes at 11:59 p.m. on 31 October. Business reasons caused this decision, which the Macau government already approved.
