Korea Sports Leisure has confirmed it will reward individuals who report illegal sports betting activities with up to KRW 200m.
The company operates Sports Toto under the Seoul Olympic Memorial National Sports Promotion Corporation and positions this programme to reduce social harm from unregulated betting markets.
They plan to sustain the reward scheme while encouraging more citizens to participate in enforcement efforts.
Reporting System Sets Clear Evidence Requirements
The programme is administered through the “illegal sports toto reporting center,” which accepts submissions against operators, users, and promoters violating the National Sports Promotion Act. Reports can be filed through their website or the dedicated hotline 1899-1119.
Participants must verify their identity and provide detailed evidence when reporting illegal platforms. Required information includes the website URL and login credentials or referral data.
Approved submissions may receive KRW 15,000 per case, with individual payouts capped at KRW 1.5m following review by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
Higher Rewards Target Financial Networks
Authorities have introduced separate incentives for reporting deposit accounts linked to illegal gambling operations. Each verified case can earn KRW 100,000, with no fixed upper limit on total rewards.
Furthermore, officials noted that only the first verified report may qualify for full compensation when it involves sites with automated cloning or URL regeneration abilities.
The programme combines financial incentives with public vigilance to promote a healthier sports betting industry and disrupt illegal networks.
