DigiPlus Clarifies Status Of Diamond Hotel Acquisition Deal

DigiPlus Interactive Corp. has stated that no definitive agreement has been reached following reports linking the company to a possible acquisition of the Diamond Hotel in Manila. In a disclosure submitted to the Philippine Stock Exchange, the company addressed a report by InsiderPH claiming DigiPlus was in discussions to acquire the Manila Bay property owned by businessman Ramon Ang.

“We confirm that DigiPlus is exploring opportunities to expand into adjacent and complementary segments, aligned with its long-term strategy to develop a robust gaming and digital entertainment ecosystem,” the company stated in the filing.

However, DigiPlus clarified that the talks were still in preliminary stages. “These plans remain under evaluation, and no definitive transactions have been made.” The company’s statement follows speculation that DigiPlus was preparing a multibillion-peso investment tied to a larger gaming development strategy in Manila.

Proposed deal linked to integrated resort ambitions

According to the InsiderPH report, DigiPlus has been negotiating to acquire the Diamond Hotel Philippines as part of plans to redevelop the property into a gaming complex valued at $1 billion.

The 480-room hotel sits along Roxas Boulevard overlooking Manila Bay. This was originally built by Shimizu Corp. in the early 1990s before its acquisition into Ang’s private portfolio. The report stated that valuation discussions are ongoing, with claims that Ang had previously rejected several offers for the property. DigiPlus was also reportedly arranging financing linked to the potential acquisition.

The company is also working towards its proposed acquisition of New Coast Hotel Manila, formerly known as Hyatt Regency Hotel & Casino. This property houses La Vie Casino and is managed by International Entertainment Corp.

DigiPlus plans to acquire the business for approximately PHP12 billion ($194.6 million). IEC also possesses a provisional Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp license to develop and run an integrated resort in Manila until 2033.

DigiPlus continues to post strong financial growth

DigiPlus has continued to report strong financial performance across its digital gaming operations. FY2025 net income peaked at PHP12.6 billion ($204.3 million), while total revenues rose 12% to PHP84.2 billion ($1.4 billion).

The company operates several major digital gaming platforms in the Philippines, including BingoPlus and ArenaPlus. Its expansion into integrated resort projects reflects a wider trend of Filipino operators combining digital gaming growth with land-based investments.

International expansion strategy continues beyond the Philippines

Beyond the domestic market, DigiPlus is also expanding internationally. The company recently secured licences from the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board in South Africa.

The development represents DigiPlus’ second overseas expansion effort after entering Brazil. This is part of its strategy to target emerging gaming jurisdictions. For this acquisition deal, DigiPlus maintains that discussions about the Diamond Hotel are exploratory, with no final transaction agreed.

DigiPlus is currently in talks to acquire the Diamond Hotel in Manila. Though still in the early stages, the acquisition is a part of a larger plan to rebuild the property into a $1bn gaming complex. This move will contribute significantly to the Philippines market growth and increase its potential revenue.
