DAZN enters a partnership with Polymarket to integrate prediction market data and functionality into DAZN sports streaming ecosystem, aiming to connect users with event outcomes.
A DAZN press release states the agreement brings prediction trading into live and on-demand sports coverage, allowing audiences to engage with events during real-time action. Prediction markets allow users to trade contracts connected to outcomes of real-world events, including sports fixtures, elections and cultural events. With this partnership, DAZN seeks to deliver prediction trading to its audience, offering another engagement model alongside current viewing and interaction features. The platform currently streams live and on-demand sports content, while also providing real-time scores, news reporting and FanZone social interaction.
The Polymarket deal expands interactive options, aiming to keep users engaged without requiring movement away from the DAZN platform. As part of the agreement, DAZN intends to request necessary licences from the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Subject to approval, DAZN expects prediction trading to become available in the US in the coming months.
Expansion to Align with Regulations
Further expansion into international markets will rely on national regulations and approvals, showing differing global approaches toward prediction markets. Polymarket continues to face varied regulatory treatment across countries. Website disclosures indicate the platform is unavailable in 33 countries, including Australia, Germany and the UK, due to mixed restrictions. The US also appears on the list, even though the earlier ban has ended. Hungary imposed a ban this week, with the Supervisory Authority for Regulated Activities raising concerns tied to suspected illegal gambling. Portugal introduced a similar ban, citing illegal gambling and pointing to political gambling activities banned under national law.
Such restrictions may reduce the scope of deeper system integration beyond data presentation. DAZN told NEXT.io it limits operations to licensed markets and follows applicable local regulatory requirements. Short-term efforts will focus on integrating Polymarket data into DAZN live sports broadcasts. Viewers can observe probability movements during matches, helping track momentum changes, likelihood views and notable moments as play continues. The overlay aims to add context to live action, supporting DAZN’s plans to improve engagement through technology use.
