Bodog Rebrands Under Ozoon Name in Canada

The Bodog brand has officially relaunched its sports betting, online casino, and poker operations under the Ozoon name in Canada. This change took place after an overnight maintenance update on 17 February 2026 that removed the Bodog identity from its Canadian platform and introduced the new Ozoon site. Existing players were able to log in using their previous credentials, with account balances, betting history and ongoing activity transferred automatically to the revamped platform.

The operator confirmed that the Bodog name was not renewed with its gaming partners, bringing to a close nearly three decades of branding familiar to many bettors. The company issued a statement: “While we are thankful for such a positive partnership for so many years, this presents us with an opportunity for us to relaunch under a different brand name.”

Latin American Poker Accounts Transition to Ignition

Bodog Poker’s presence was not limited to Canada before the rebrand. The platform had been active in several Latin American countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Peru, under the Bodog Poker banner.

Following the transition to Ozoon in Canada, Latin American poker accounts are being moved to Ignition Poker. Customers will need to download Ignition’s software to access their old accounts, but they will retain the same deposit and withdrawal methods and their previous bonuses and balances.

Legacy of Bodog and Its Market Context

Bodog was founded in the late 1990s by billionaire entrepreneur Calvin Ayre and launched its online sportsbook in 2000, riding the early wave of internet gambling popularity. It expanded into casino gaming and poker, becoming one of the most visible offshore betting brands during the industry’s formative years.

In 2012, U.S. authorities moved against offshore operators and seized Bodog’s domain name. Federal prosecutors also indicted Ayre, forcing the brand to withdraw from the American market. The network later re-emerged in the United States under the Bovada name, which continues to offer online sports betting and casino games across a number of states.

Outside the U.S., Bodog maintained a presence in Canada’s grey market. The brand continued to provide poker services in most provinces, operating outside provincially regulated frameworks such as Ontario and the soon to be regulated Alberta. That environment allowed offshore platforms to attract players despite lacking local licences.

Regulatory pressure has intensified in recent years. In July 2025, the province of Manitoba secured an injunction against Bodog that restricted access within its borders. The order required geoblocking measures and curtailed certain advertising activity tied to the site.

The rebrand to Ozoon reflects these changing conditions. By retiring the Bodog name in Canada, the company closes a chapter associated with decades of cross-border operations.
