Belarusian Streamer Mellstroi Wanted in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s Financial Monitoring Agency known as AFM has put Belarusian streamer Andrei Burim, also known as Mellstroi on the wanted list. The news appeared on the portal of legal statistics and special records of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic. The report was published by the Kazinform news agency on November 16.

Burim 26, is known for his online streaming activities and has drawn attention in multiple countries. According to official records, the case against him was registered on November 15 in Astana. The AFM Department of Economic Investigations in the city is leading the search. However, the authorities have not disclosed the exact reasons why he has been placed on the wanted list.

Court Labels Mellstroi’s Channels as Extremist

Earlier, on November 6, a court in Belarus declared all channels run by Mellstroi as extremist materials. The decision followed reports of public order violations and hooliganism across the country in October. According to Belarusian law enforcement agencies, Mellstroi was hiding abroad while being involved in organizing illegal activities.

Authorities said that Burim encouraged people to join contests where they had to commit illegal acts. Participants were asked to record videos of these actions and post them on social media in return for money. These activities caused public disturbances and have been strongly criticized by government officials in Belarus for breaking the law and harming public order.

Online Influence and Legal Consequences

Mellstroi has gained attention on social media platforms for his live streams and online presence. While he has fans who follow his content, authorities say his influence was used to encourage illegal behavior. The case highlights the challenges governments face in monitoring online platforms and holding individuals accountable for actions that cross national borders.

The AFM in Kazakhstan is actively working to locate Burim. Authorities have not confirmed whether other countries are assisting in the search or if there are international requests for his arrest. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are urging the public to provide any information that could help find him. They said that even small tips could be important in tracking his whereabouts. The agency continues to monitor his online activities and movements closely to ensure he is brought to justice.

Broader Impact on Online Content

The case of Mellstroi underscores increasing scrutiny on online content creators and their influence on audiences. Governments in Belarus and Kazakhstan are signaling that online platforms are not free from legal oversight, especially when content encourages illegal or harmful behavior.

As authorities in Kazakhstan pursue Burim, observers note that the situation may set a precedent for how other countries deal with online personalities who are accused of organizing illegal activities from abroad. The outcome of this case could influence policies related to online content, social media accountability, and cross-border law enforcement cooperation.
