Myanmar Intensifies Crackdown on Telecom Fraud and Illegal Gambling in KK Park and Shwe Kokko

Security forces demolish structures without authorisation and capture foreign citizens. Coordinated sweeps target criminal operations. National efforts against telecom fraud and online gambling increased across Myanmar. The government considers these crimes priority threats to regional and international communities. The Global New Light of Myanmar reported combined operation teams taking action. Security forces and administrative units conducted operations in the Myawady-Maehtawthalay area, called KK Park and Shwe Kokko project zone.

October marked the return of fraudulent activities, according to officials. Mulaei Alin Company and Tran-Asia International Holding Group started operations in KK Park. Shwe Kokko saw the revival of a development project that had stopped earlier. Economic activity served as the false reason. Machinery and technical methods destroy buildings to prevent criminal reuse. Demolition works continue systematically.

Major Crackdown on KK Park Scam and Gambling Structures

KK Park contained 635 structures connected to online scams and gambling. Teams demolished 170 buildings while 465 await removal. Shwe Kokko operations captured 265 foreign nationals from 13 buildings without permits. Chinese, Malaysian, Filipino, Nepalese, Thai, Vietnamese, Nigerian and Indonesian citizens faced arrest. Seizures included 2,339 computers, 2,950 mobile phones and industrial equipment for fraud. Inspections revealed 611 more foreign nationals living without legal status in Myanmar. Officers found 2,653 computers and 19,650 mobile phones for telecom fraud activity.

The Shwe Kokko facility holds detainees while the Illegal Foreigner Investigation Team checks identities. Departmental teams create records to speed suspect transfers to their countries. Suppression efforts will persist through coordination with domestic agencies and neighbouring governments. Myanmar prevents the re-establishment of such criminal operations within its borders.
