Spain Online Gambling Revenue Climbs to €410.3 Million in Q2

Spain’s online gambling market delivered another quarter of growth in Q2 2025, with revenue rising to €410.3 million. Figures released by the Directorate General for Gambling Regulation showed an 18.5% increase at the same period last year and a 2.8% rise from the opening quarter of 2025.

The regulator showed industry-wide strength with total deposits rising 23.7% year-on-year to €1.35 billion, only slightly below Q1 levels. Withdrawals also increased by 28.9% to €962.9 million. New player registrations reached 504,853, up 11.7% on the year, although this was 11.6% lower than the previous quarter.

Marketing spend rose by 37.1% year-on-year to €164.5 million. This was also marginally higher than in Q1, highlighting operators’ commitment to growth in a competitive market.

Casino Remains the Leading Segment

Online casinos once again dominated Spain’s online gambling industry. Revenue for the segment reached €216.4 million, accounting for 52.7% of total market revenue. This represented a 26% increase on Q2 2024, with the DGOJ attributing much of the growth to slot machines, which generated a 33.6% rise in revenue.

Sports betting also delivered a notable increase. Revenue increased 18.2% year-on-year to €171.4 million, which represented 41.8% of the market.

Declines in Poker and Bingo

While casino and sports betting posted double-digit growth, not all segments performed as strongly. Online poker revenue fell sharply to €19.1 million, a decline of 25.2% compared with Q2 2024. The figure was also 25.1% lower than the first quarter of this year.

Bingo experienced a smaller decline, with revenue slipping 6.4 percent year-on-year to €3.4 million. Meanwhile, gambling defined as contests generated what the DGOJ described as very small figures in terms of revenue and player spending, highlighting the limited appeal of this niche.

Industry Landscape and Licensing

By the close of Q2, a total of 77 operators held licences in Spain. Of these, 64 operated at least one active single licence during the three-month period. The DGOJ reported that 52 companies offered online casino games, 42 were active in sports betting, nine in poker, four in bingo, and two in contests.

The regulator said the steady growth of casino and sports betting revenue showed the maturity and resilience of Spain’s regulated market. Despite declines in poker and bingo, the overall outlook remained positive due to strong player engagement and sustained operator investment in marketing.
