To start, eight venues are planned for transformation in 2025, prioritising fresh technology, digital bingo terminals, and player experiences using immersive features.
Main information:
- Buzz has arranged £25m in funding for these refurbishments with Barclays.
- The Sheffield Parkway site reopened first, where footfall doubled during its launch week.
- The plan includes introducing more than 10,000 electronic bingo terminals and installing 1,300 slot machines.
Buzz Bingo stated that a £25m ($34m) investment programme is in motion for updating UK clubs, beginning by refurbishing eight locations in 2025. Backed by Barclays funding, Buzz’s programme will modernise its land-based sites with new technology, updated design and improved digital systems. The Sheffield Parkway club was the first to reopen, now showing a redesigned main hall, new lounge spaces and bar areas, and pieces created by artists from the area.
Buzz Bingo’s Modernisation Drives Visitor Surge and Revenue Growth
This upgraded venue has new digital displays, improved audio and visual systems, and interiors that aim to attract younger players. Figures indicate that, after reopening, Sheffield Parkway drew 200% more visitors than the week before and traffic rose 131% compared to the same week last year. Buzz Bingo posted further growth in its financial results, with FY23 EBITDA up by 14% and online revenue increasing 31%. The company reached an annual NGR of £207m.
The broader plan involves launching over 10,000 digital bingo terminals, introducing digital membership cards and adding self-service kiosks that use next-generation technology throughout the clubs. Seven other venues, such as those in Leeds and Stockport, will be upgraded later this year, and more sites are set for future stages.
Buzz Bingo’s Five-Year Growth Strategy and Venue Transformation
This move is part of Buzz Bingo’s five-year approach, rolled out in 2023, which aims to use its omnichannel methods for dependable growth. Recently, the company bought two Merkur Bingo locations in Northampton and Cricklewood, which adds to its push for expansion.
Dominic Mansour, Buzz CEO, explained the new investment programme, saying it will change many of their clubs. The goal is to update bingo for the coming generation and raise the standard inside their venues to provide a matchless experience.
