The North Carolina State Lottery Commission has posted $58.1m in sports betting revenue for February 2026, a 4.3% increase from last year.
The regulator recorded a total betting handle of nearly $596.1m during the period, up by 9.7% year-on-year. Licensed operators also submitted $10.5m in tax payments to the state during February.
Several national sportsbook brands currently operate in the state under the regulatory framework overseen by the commission.
Underdog Ends Sportsbook Operations In State
The North Carolina State Lottery Commission confirmed in December that Underdog Fantasy had opted to withdraw its sportsbook operations from the state. This decision was discussed during a meeting of the Regulated Gaming Committee held on 10 December.
Commission officials said Underdog reached out before Thanksgiving to inform them that stopping its sports betting operations was a business decision.
In an email sent to customers in North Carolina, Underdog thanked its active users. “We’re grateful to have you as part of the Underdog community and can’t wait to keep delivering great experiences your way.”
Seven Licensed Sportsbooks Remain In Market
Following Underdog’s departure, seven licensed brands now operate in North Carolina, including FanDuel, DraftKings, Fanatics, Caesars Sportsbook, BetMGM, bet365 and theScore Bet. The change also means Underdog no longer operates a sportsbook anywhere in the United States.
The company previously withdrew from Missouri before the state’s regulated online sports betting market launched on 1 December.
Underdog formed a partnership with Crypto.com in September to explore opportunities in prediction markets where regulatory frameworks are still developing in the United States.
