Can Fanatics compete with DraftKings and FanDuel in New York?

Commercial Gaming
Total slot handle amounted to $507.9m. The figure decreased by almost $80 million month-on-month. Year-on-year growth still reached 2.9% with $6.2m wagered through promotional credits. New York residents won $460.9 million from slots. Gross gaming revenue (GGR) resulted in $40.7m. Last year’s comparable period showed $39.3m.
Table game drop measured $68.3m. Year-on-year decline hit 6.1%. GGR grew to $15.2m from $14.3m the previous year. We saw a drop in average table count from 290 to 283. Poker tables earned $0.8m while sports wagering made $0.9m. Handle for sports wagering stood at $5.7m. Total GGR amounted to $57.6m. Year-on-year increase measured 3.1%. Net revenue for operators totalled $43.7m. Tax payments approached $14m.
Sports Betting
Mobile sports betting handle across New York totalled $2.29bn. October 2024’s $2.32bn record remains the only higher figure. June and July both fell short of $2bn previously. The current fiscal year, starting in April, saw its peak handle. Year-on-year expansion reached 10.4%. Monthly growth hit 11.9%. Total GGR came to $193.8m. The month-on-month increase was 8.7%. Year-on-year comparison revealed a 5.4% decline, surprisingly.
Bally’s achieved a handle of $13m alongside GGR of $788,535. Handle improved, but GGR declined. Rush Street Interactive delivered a handle of $45.9m plus GGR of $3.6m. Year-on-year improvements were 5.8% and 0.9% respectively. ESPN Bet managed a handle of $47.1m with GGR of $2.8m. September last year saw just $4m handle and $103,273 GGR from them.
BetMGM attained a handle of $149.8m. Year-on-year gain approximated $6m. GGR expanded similarly, reaching $10.9m. Caesars produced equivalent results showing a handle of $152m alongside GGR of $10.9m. Handle grew 3.3% while revenue decreased 16.1% for them. September positioned Fanatics as the third-highest earning operator. Handle totalled $219m, showing a 52.9% year-on-year surge. GGR expansion reached a remarkable 142.9% hitting $20.4m.
Might Fanatics Eventually Challenge DraftKings and FanDuel?
US sportsbook leaders predictably earned the highest in September statewide. DraftKings declared a handle of $870.6m with GGR of $66.7m. Changes were a 10.4% increase and a 4.3% decrease. FanDuel lagged for $790.4m. Last year sat $6m lower. GGR beat DraftKings, reaching $77.6m. Year-on-year decline still occurred, dropping 20.7%.
