Spain’s online gambling market kept growing strongly in 2025, led by casino games and sports betting. New data from the General Directorate for Gambling Regulation, or DGOJ, shows that gross gaming revenue in Spain’s online sector reached €405.36 million in the three months ending 30 September 2025. This is 16.49% higher than the same period in 2024, although it is slightly lower than the previous quarter.
The DGOJ report also showed that player deposits and withdrawals increased compared to last year. Deposits rose by 18.19% and withdrawals went up by 16.82%. Compared to the previous quarter, deposits stayed almost the same, rising only 0.03%, while withdrawals grew by 2.7%.
Marketing and Promotions Boost Activity
Marketing spending was an important factor in the market’s growth. Total marketing costs reached €154.84 million, up 17.89% from a year ago, but 6% lower than the previous quarter. The number of new accounts also grew by 16.82% year-on-year, though it fell 2.7% from the last quarter.
Spending on promotions went up 23.47% to €82.03 million. Of this, €28.57 million was given as bonus prizes, while €53.46 million was used for other promotional activities. Money spent on affiliates rose 19.77% to €15.86 million, and advertising grew 8.42% to €54.65 million.
Casino Leads Market Growth
Casino games are still the biggest part of Spain’s online gambling market, making up 56.98% of total revenue. The casino segment earned €230.97 million, which is 22.93% higher than the same quarter last year.
Most of this growth came from slot machines, which rose 27.78% year-on-year. Compared to the previous quarter, slot machines grew 8.54% and live roulette went up 4.2%. Meanwhile, conventional roulette dropped 8% and blackjack fell 3.22%.
Sports Betting, Poker, and Bingo
Sports betting, which makes up 36.88% of the market, had mixed results. Revenue grew 10% compared to the same quarter in 2024 but fell 13.02% compared to the previous quarter. Conventional fixed-odds sports betting dropped 42.98%, while live betting rose strongly by 32.82%. Other fixed-odds bets increased 23.85%, but fixed-odds horse racing betting went down 9.07%.
Bingo revenue fell 5.92% from the previous quarter and was 13.48% lower than the same period last year. Poker, which accounts for just 5.36% of the market, did better. Poker revenue grew 13.59% compared to the previous quarter and 5.8% compared to the same quarter in 2024.
Overall, Spain’s online gambling market keeps growing, led by casino games and marketing efforts. The rise in revenue shows that online gambling continues to be an important and changing part of Spain’s entertainment and gaming industry.
