The Lithuanian Gaming Supervision Authority (LPT) has updated the Remote Gambling Agreement form. It removed some wording because those rules were already covered in other laws. The LPT said the old version repeated information found in Lithuania’s gambling laws and in the law on preventing money laundering and terrorist financing.
The regulator said these changes were needed to remove old language and make the rules clearer for operators and players. The new version took effect on 1 November 2025 and now applies to all online gambling agreements in the country.
Clearer Rules for Ending Gambling Agreements
One key change focuses on when a remote gambling agreement can be ended. The old form listed several reasons for termination, but the LPT removed them because these rules are already clearly defined in Lithuania’s laws. The regulator also said that operators already include these conditions in their own internal rules.
With the updated system, operators are now allowed to end agreements with players who show signs of problem gambling. This gives companies the ability to step in early and protect players who may be at risk.
The LPT says this approach helps keep the process clear and consistent. It also supports the country’s responsible gambling goals by making sure operators take action when a player’s behaviour becomes worrying. The regulator believes these clearer rules will help strengthen player protection across the whole sector.
Operators Must Update Existing Contracts
The LPT has instructed all gambling companies to update their existing contracts with current players. Operators must use their own internal procedures when making these changes, and they need to ensure that every contract fully follows the new legal standards. This is meant to keep all agreements clear, consistent and aligned with the updated rules.
The regulator also explained that from now on, every decision to end a remote gambling agreement must follow the requirements set out in national law. This means operators cannot depend on old terms or earlier versions of the agreement form when dealing with players. Instead, they must rely on the updated and unified rules created through the latest amendments, which are designed to offer clearer guidance for operators and players.
Stronger Focus on Responsible Gambling
Alongside the contract updates, the Gaming Supervision Authority reminded operators that they must have responsible gambling control systems in place. These systems must be able to monitor player behaviour and identify warning signs linked to problem gambling. When risks are detected, operators are required to take action to protect players.
The LPT also plans to continue supporting gambling companies by offering guidance and preparing official guidelines on how to properly terminate gambling agreements. The regulator said its goal is to protect players while ensuring that operators follow the law in a clear, consistent and responsible way.
