Nigerian sportsbook Bet9ja has officially entered into a multi-year sponsorship agreement with Balmoral Group Promotions. This is a major step in the operator’s expansion into professional boxing. The deal will elevate Nigerian boxing domestically and internationally, showcasing homegrown talent while attracting top international fighters.
Prospect Moses Itauma announced earlier in August that this partnership follows Bet9ja’s recent sponsorship of British-Nigerian heavyweight. By strengthening its ties with the sport, Bet9ja positions itself as a major sponsor in Nigeria and beyond.
Launch Event Set for Independence Day
The collaboration will debut on 1 October 2025 with Chaos In The Ring, a headline event scheduled at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos. The launch coincides with Nigeria’s Independence Day celebrations, showing its cultural significance.
The main event features American cruiserweight Brandon Glanton (20-3, 17 KOs) taking on Liverpool’s Rocky Fielding (30-3, 18 KOs), a former WBA super middleweight champion. The undercard is also stacked with international talent, including former IBF lightweight champion Richard Commey against rising prospect Shiloh Defreitas. British light heavyweight contender Dan Azeez and other globally recognised fighters are also set to appear, promising fans a night of world-class boxing.
The event is in collaboration with former world champion Amir Khan’s AK Promotions and supported by Nigeria’s National Sports Commission. Fans will be able to watch live broadcast coverage on DAZN globally.
Stakeholders Share Optimism
Jennifer Olatunji, Senior Marketing Manager of Bet9ja, described the agreement as a transformative step for Nigerian boxing. She explained that the vision is to support athletes and bring entertaining fight nights to a global audience. “Bet9ja is proud to back Nigerian boxing through this transformative partnership with Balmoral Group Promotions. Starting with this Independence Day spectacle, we are committed to growing the sport’s ecosystem, creating opportunities for athletes and engaging fans in ways that resonate both at home and abroad,” she said.
Dr. Ezekiel Adamu, CEO of Balmoral Group Promotions, highlighted that this collaboration will revolutionise the sport in Nigeria.
Boosting Nigerian Boxing’s Global Profile
The partnership highlights a growing momentum behind Nigerian boxing, with increased sponsorship and a focus on developing grassroots talent. Bet9ja and Balmoral Group Promotions will provide Nigerian fighters with global exposure while bringing elite international contests to local fans.
With the inaugural event set for October, anticipation is
building. The collaboration is set to deliver thrilling fights and a solid foundation for the growth of professional boxing.
