Light & Wonder has taken a major step forward in its global expansion strategy. The company recently secured a vendor licence from the United Arab Emirates’ General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA). This grants them permission to supply its full suite of land-based gaming machines, table utilities, and iGaming content to licensed operators in the UAE.
The GCGRA was established in 2023 to oversee the development of the country’s commercial gaming sector. As the UAE adopts a regulated gaming market, Light & Wonder becomes one of its first officially approved gaming suppliers. This is a significant accomplishment as the company expands its presence in newly regulated jurisdictions.
Comprehensive Licence Scope for Cross-Platform Supply
The vendor licence awarded by the GCGRA covers a wide range of products and services offered by Light & Wonder. These include electronic gaming machines, table game utilities, and digital content for online gaming platforms. The approval positions them to serve operators in physical casino environments and the digital iGaming space.
Matt Wilson, President and CEO of Light & Wonder, commented on the achievement:
“Securing a license from the GCGRA is an important milestone for Light & Wonder as we enter one of the most anticipated new regulated markets in the world. We’re honoured to be among the first approved suppliers and are committed to bringing our trusted, responsible and player-first approach to the UAE.”
Momentum Continues with Strategic Partnerships and Growth
Light & Wonder’s UAE licence is the latest in a string of strategic moves to deepen its footprint in regulated global markets. In June 2025, the company signed a partnership with BetMGM to launch The Wizard of Oz – Follow the Yellow Brick Road. This game debuted in New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ontario, continuing the company’s cross-platform success.
Earlier this year, Light & Wonder also finalized the $850 million acquisition of Grover Gaming’s charitable gaming assets. This further reinforced its strategy to deliver seamless gaming experiences across land-based, online, and charitable gaming channels.
Financial Performance and Outlook Remain Strong
Light & Wonder’s growth is also reflected in its financial performance. The company’s Q1 2025 results marked its 16th consecutive quarter of revenue growth. Adjusted EBITDA rose by 11%, highlighting the effectiveness of its expansion and product strategies.
With a strong foundation in other continents and a foothold in the UAE, Light & Wonder is poised to capitalize on the next wave of global gaming opportunities. Their approach is driven by regulatory alignment, acquisitions, and a growing global demand for cross-platform gaming experiences.
