By buying Wynn Mayfair, Wynn Resorts now owns a central London private gaming spot, just after it left the competition for a New York casino licence.
Key Points
- Wynn Resorts closed the deal to take over Wynn Mayfair from Crown Resorts.
- Inside this exclusive members club are 20 gaming tables, plus a public dining place.
- Expansion in Europe and the Middle East continues, with Wynn’s UAE resort opening projections set for 2027.
With approval from the UK Gambling Commission, Wynn Resorts now fully owns Wynn Mayfair, a private club for gaming located in London’s West End. You find the Mayfair venue at 27–28 Curzon Street; Crown Resorts ran it before, and the property is now listed with Wynn’s worldwide casinos. Split over two joined Georgian townhouses, the place has 20 gaming tables spread over different floors, with private salons and a rooftop terrace.
The Bar and The Dining Room both sit at entrance level, letting not only members but also the public enjoy food and drinks. John Aspinall turned the former White Elephant Club, which began back in the 196s, into a gaming spot; over the years, this address welcomed big names from both British and global society.
Wynn Resorts Expands Globally with Iconic Mayfair Club Acquisition
A piece of trivia — guests like Princess Margaret, actor Richard Burton, and James Bond star Roger Moore have visited the club over time. Both classic and modern artworks, antiques, and special furniture fill the club for guests; as Wynn mentions, you also get gaming, dining, and smoking up on the rooftop.
After pulling out of the New York casino application process in May, this acquisition marks another step in Wynn’s worldwide expansion. At that moment, Wynn Resorts stated: “There are uses for our capital more accretive to our shareholders, such as investment in our existing and upcoming developments.”
Wynn Al Marjan Island is one new major project, an integrated UAE resort set to welcome guests in early 2027. They called buying Mayfair part of a wider strategy to boost growth in the Middle East and Europe. No details about the price or any planned changes to club operations have been published by Wynn since taking over Mayfair.
