Marc Pedersen finished almost 18 years at Better Collective and left his job as CEO, closing a chapter for this world sports betting and media group. Using his LinkedIn, Pedersen looked back and talked about how the company went from a small apartment to running international operations across sports, gambling, and eSports.
He described, “I joined in 2007, just a small team and in Christian and Jesper’s small place,” Pedersen explained. “In 2017, we grew by ourselves a lot, but then we started a new period with an M&A plan. I led about 25 acquisitions for the first phase.” The company has a strong presence in the eSports area and owns and runs different service platforms. FUTBIN belongs to Better Collective, and FUTBIN stands as the biggest group around EA Sports FC Ultimate Team in the world.
Global eSports and Digital Expansion
HLTV.org is also their property, giving all the news, stats, and player ranks about Counter-Strike 2 (CS2). On top of reporting CS2 tournaments, HLTV runs a once a year awards event that picks top world teams and top players. Dust2 is another, which Better Collective uses to focus on regional CS2 news and numbers, serving fans in Denmark, Brazil, India, and the US. Fans can get live CS2 scores or player interviews from Dust2, and the platform arranges Dust2 Masters each year, linking local fans to the large world eSports arena.
Structural Shifts and Market Challenges
Pedersen decided to leave when Better Collective was already in a critical shift in its setup. In Q1, the group showed revenue going down, linking this to compliance and regulatory shifts, mostly in important markets like North America. As a response, the leadership launched a major internal review and put business priorities in order again, as compliance and local market rules continue to change.
Pedersen kept positive and said he is happy about earlier wins, highlighting how yearly revenue jumped from $260,000 in 2018 to more than $100 million since 2022, building up big revenue-share databases and new content plans with famous sports names. He said, “I could not do these things if I had not worked with everyone in BC North America. I feel proud to have been in charge of such people.” Better Collective continues looking for the next opportunities, remaining a global force inside sports betting and digital fan engagement.
