Ontario’s iGaming Market Hits CA$313.2 Million in April

The province of Ontario’s iGaming market performed well in April, earning CA$313.2 million (US$228.7 million) in gross revenue — an increase of 25.3% over April 2021. Despite a slight dip in consumer spend from March, the province still showed month-over-month growth, according to iGaming Ontario. April was way up from the CA$250 million in April 2024 and 5.8% higher than the CA$296 million in March 2025.

Casino Games Win Big

Casino games were the top performer, with CA$242.8 million — up 35.6% from April last year. Sports betting was steady at CA$64.5 million year-over-year. Online poker was up 3.5% to CA$5.9 million. In terms of market share, online casino accounted for 78% of total iGaming revenue in April. Sports betting was 21% and poker 2%.

Consumer Spend Down Slightly from March

Total spend across all iGaming verticals was CA$7.8 billion in April — 26.4% higher than April 2024. But down 2% from March 2025. Online casino spend was up 29.4% year-over-year to CA$6.58 billion. Sports was up 14.1% to CA$1.07 billion and poker was flat at CA$144 million. Total spend was down month-on-month across all categories.

Player Engagement and ARPU Up

1.1 million active monthly player accounts in April — 20.3% higher than same period last year and 2.8% higher than March 2025. Average revenue per player was CA$287 — 4% higher year-over-year and 2.9% higher than last month.
